Sleeping in a Treehouse

About three months before my birthday, Kevin asked if I wanted to take a weekend trip and ask how far I’d be willing to drive to go there. I saw maybe 8 hours max and he told me he was thinking that we take a weekend trip to Chattanooga. I instantly was on the hunt for a treehouse to stay in, that way I could cross an item off of my list! I had actually saved several treehouses on Airbnb, so I looked on the list and sure enough, there were a couple in that area!

I booked the Luna Loft from Treehouse Hideaways. We pulled into the parking area and then had to take a trail up to the treehouse itself, a bit difficult with the bags we brought. The treehouse was freaking awesome! I immediately got into the hammock that was strung between two trees on the porch. There was also a firepit that we made smores at (they included a smores kit), the heat in the treehouse was perfect and much needed, and apparently some raccoons came to visit overnight (I didn’t hear them, but Kevin did).

Below are photos from their website because I did not take enough pictures, and none inside.

The only thing that I’ve realized is that I should really start traveling with a coffee maker. When my parents went on short trips for the weekend, they always took a coffee maker and it really confused me. Well, now I really get it. The treehouse had a pour over coffee CUP, not a full pot, but only a single cup that could be made at a time. No thank you. With other short trips, we have had to deal with crappy hotel coffee. So yeah, I’m going to start doing what my parents did and travel with a coffee maker if I’m unsure of the coffee situation.

Not only did we stay in a treehouse, we went on a lantern tour of Ruby Falls, spelunking in Raccoon Cavern, and enjoyed some amazing meals, including a special birthday dinner and we got to dress up nice and fancy. It was a perfect birthday weekend getaway for my 38th (!!!) birthday. Just two more years left to cross everything off of my list!
